The Application Programmable Interface (API) is one of the products within HSBC Secure ePayments, allowing you to take card payments from your customers remotely. It is a highly versatile system, which allows you to integrate the required functionality directly into your own systems. The API service also provides access to the Virtual Terminal. This interface allows you to view complete order processing, view historic data and review transactions that have been flagged for your attention.

The API service allows all primary and secondary transactions types to be integrated separately. For example, a merchant may wish the initial authorisations to be handled through the API service, with refunds / shipping being handled via the virtual terminal. Alternatively, a merchant may wish for all these processes to be linked directly into their software, providing their staff with a "one interface" solution.

HSBC XML API – The XML API interface does not require the installation of any software provided by HSBC. If a merchant's server has the necessary functionality to create, send and interpret an XML document, it is not normally necessary to make additional changes.

HSBC CPI – The CPI interface requires installation of dll or other files provided by HSBC.

We provide ready to use HSBC API / CPI ssl scripts (IE, Firefox and Mac Safari compliant) under ASP, PHP, ASP.NET technologies for your Linux and Windows ecommerce hosted web store (osCommerce, xCart, Drupal and bespoke). Implementation services are provided with 2 support tickets. Ftp access would be required to install the scripts and shopping carts would require a trial user account.
